He is best known for creating the series character Professor Craig Kennedy, sometimes called “The American Sherlock Holmes,” and his Dr Watson-like sidekick Walter Jameson, a newspaper reporter, in eighteen detective novels. The bulk of Reeve’s fame is based on the 82 Craig Kennedy stories, published in Cosmopolitan magazine between 1910 and 1918. These were collected in book form; with the third collection, the short stories were stitched together into pseudo-novels. The 12-volume Craig Kennedy Stories came out in 1918; it reissued Reeve’s books-to-date as a matched set.

This Story is called The Unofficial Spy. A woman is found dead at the Hotel Vanderveer. Professor Kennedy is called in because no one can tell how she died. The truth turns out to be an insideous plot involving spies, Nazis, the Panama Canal, and a lot of danger for our intrepid Professor. Can he stop the spies and protect our country?

This Story is called The White Slave. A beautiful young woman has disappeared. Her parents had forbidden her to ever meet with her lover, and so suspicion falls directly on him. Only Kennedy can find the truth, but before he can even act, the young woman is found dead. Now it is a murder that Kennedy must solve, the police have no evidence. Kennedy finds several hairs clutched in the dead girl’s fingers, can he use his methods of deduction to trace this hair back to its rightful owner?

The ask Craig to investigate, which sends him and Walter on an adventure living and working with the firemen of the city.
