Episode #168: The Dice Tower
Written by emiller on March 27, 2010 – 9:23 AM -Top 10 Games of 1995
In this episode, Geoff talks about the worries of publishing a new game, we have several reviews from contributors, and we continue our Summoner Wars contest. Dexter and the Chief make an appearance, and Tom talks about 17 games in 17 minutes (or less). Finally, we end the show with a look back fifteen years ago – what are the best games from 1995?
The Dice Tower is a podcast about BoardGames. Not your Monopoly and Checkers fare, but REAL boardgames. There are boardgames with real strategy, that are actually fun to play. The Dice Tower is the most listened to boardgame podcast in the world.
I do the interior segment pieces on the show. Eric Summerer does the show intro/outtro and is the co-host. He is a very talented voice artist himself, you can download some of the audiobooks he has narrated at Audible.com.
Tom Vasel is the show’s host. I have never encountered a more knowledgeable person concerning boardgames.
Give the show a listen, you might find a whole new hobby to explore!

Some of these featured famous characters or popular performers but for whatever reason haven’t stuck in our collective memories. Bedtime Stories: The Princess in the Chest
Written by emiller on March 13, 2010 – 9:52 AM -
I love reading to my kids. I know some parents do not have the time to read to their children, or have problems reading. So I am offering bedtime stories, all for free.
This story is The Princess in the Chest from
THE PINK FAIRY BOOK Edited by Andrew Lang
The story is of a king who can’t have children and blames the quennt. He goes away for a year and tells her to have a child. She sees an old wise woman who helps her have a daughter, but they must not see her before her 14th birthday. Of course, the king does on the last day and she is cursed and dies. Her body is put in a chast and sentries watch over it but all of them disappear. Finally a Smith agrees to watch the chest, then gets scared and tries to get away, but a mysterious little man stops him and tells him what to do to survive the night. He does, there is some scary stuff that happens, the king is happy, he does it two more times, the curse is broken, the girl rises up and is freed from the curse, and they all live happily ever after.
This fairy tale is Rated PG, because there is a scary banshee type ghost in this story. Overall it is actually a pretty good story for a stormy night and has a happy ending.
