Gen Con has reached a new agreement with Sun King Brewing, extending a partnership that began in 2012. As part of this deal, they again will operate an outdoor, ages 21- and-older, beer garden, hold a naming contest among Gen Con fans for an official 2016 beer, and host a tapping “kickoff” party on the evening of August 3 in Indianapolis.
“The enchantment of Gen Con gets better every year! Not just the event itself, but our growing partnership,” said Clay Robinson, Co-Founder/Owner of Sun King Brewing. “We are incredibly excited about the event’s expansion and you can look forward to some changes to the Sun King Georgia Street Beer Garden – including making even more of our collaborative beer.”
While Gen Con and Sun King have had four previous naming contests for official beers, this year’s naming selection process will give Gen Con fans more control than ever before. Sun King will craft a beer specifically based on the name chosen by attendees, as opposed to attendees naming a previously chosen beer style.
“The Sun King Brewing team is the best kind of partner: creative, innovative, fun, and expert at its craft, brewing world-class beer,” said Scott Elliott, Gen Con’s Vice President of Business Development. “We are excited to offer an incredible opportunity for one of our mutual fans: involvement in the design of the Gen Con 2016 Official Beer. This year, fans will submit names based on the Gen Con 2016 theme Share Your Legends. Once the name has been selected, Sun King’s brewer and owner Dave Colt will carefully research and select ingredients and a style that will live up to the selected beer name.”
Do you have a great name for the Official Beer of Gen Con 2016? You can submit it today! If your name is chosen, you will win a Grand Prize package including free Gen Con badges, cool Sun King mechandise, a gift card, and more! Submissions can be made at the contest link. Due to contest rules, participants must be over the age of 21 and a US resident. Additional rules apply; void where prohibited.
