Bedtime Story: The Cat's Elopement
Written by emiller on December 19, 2009 – 10:39 AM -
I love reading to my kids. I know some parents do not have the time to read to their children, or have problems reading. So I am offering bedtime stories, all for free.
This story is The Cat’s Elopement from
THE PINK FAIRY BOOK Edited by Andrew Lang
It is the story of two cats, who fall in love but their masters won’t let them be together. They run away, The male saves the female from a big dog and is taken to a princess where he is pampered and loved while the female is left to fend for herself. Eventually he sees her getting attacked again and saves her again. They tell the tale of their love to the princess, who adopts the female as well and they live the rest of their days happily ever after.
This story is Rated G. A word of caution though, the story seems to say that is is ok to run away and get married. Maybe the moral is “Love conquers all”, but as a dad I don’t want the kids running away to get married. It is probably fine for younger children, but older ones might get the wrong idea.

The Dice Tower – Episode #162
Written by emiller on December 19, 2009 – 10:31 AM -Top Fantasy Flight Games
In this show we talk about the games we want to get for Christmas. We finish up our contest and review Knights of the Realm. Geoff talks about gaming tables, and Moritz reviews a wargame. Finally, Tom and Eric end the show with their top ten Fantasy Flight games.
The Dice Tower is a podcast about BoardGames. Not your Monopoly and Checkers fare, but REAL boardgames. There are boardgames with real strategy, that are actually fun to play. The Dice Tower is the most listened to boardgame podcast in the world.
I do the interior segment pieces on the show. Eric Summerer does the show intro/outtro and is the co-host. He is a very talented voice artist himself, you can download some of the audiobooks he has narrated at Audible.com.
Tom Vasel is the show’s host. I have never encountered a more knowledgeable person concerning boardgames.
Give the show a listen, you might find a whole new hobby to explore!

Bedtime Story: The Goblin and the Grocer
Written by emiller on December 16, 2009 – 6:34 AM -
I love reading to my kids. I know some parents do not have the time to read to their children, or have problems reading. So I am offering bedtime stories, all for free.
This first story is the Goblin and the Grocer from
THE PINK FAIRY BOOK Edited by Andrew Lang
The story is of a goblin, who in this story is not a bad creature. He lives with a grocer because the grocer gives him jam each Christmas Eve. Upstairs is a student, who gets a book of poetry and reads it out loud at night. The goblin sneaks up to listen and falls in love with the poetry. Eventually there is a fire, and the goblin saves the poetry book from the fire and finds out that it is more important to him than the jam. But he likes the jam too so he stays with both the grocer and the student.
This story is Rated G. The moral seems to be that it is ok to appreciate beauty, but you need your jam too. Not sure what use this is, but there you have it.
